About This Spot

Stepping into Chada Thai Cuisine Chico feels like uncovering a cherished local secret tucked quietly in the heart of downtown Chico. Nestled below the Brooklyn Bridge Bagels shop, this family-run spot embraces you with a gentle warmth that leans more toward a beloved friend’s kitchen than a typical restaurant. The coziness of the basement space invites a slower pace—one encourages you to settle in and savor the moment alongside the rich, authentic aromas weaving from the open kitchen.

The atmosphere here is unpretentious and personal, a genuine reflection of the family behind the stove and table. Conversations flow easily amid the comforting hum of softly clinking dishes and quiet laughter. You’re likely to notice how the service feels attentive but never intrusive, leaving room for that relaxed, easygoing rhythm that comes when a place truly knows its people and craft.

Chada Thai Cuisine’s menu is a quiet celebration of traditional Thai flavors, carefully layered rather than loud and flashy. Imagine steaming bowls of fragrant soups gently heated with lemongrass and coconut milk, or vibrant vegetable stir-fries where fresh herbs and spices dance just beneath the surface, inviting you to pause and reflect on each bite. The softly spiced notes and balances of sour, sweet, and savory remind you of a home-cooked meal made with thoughtful hands.

What makes this experience distinct is its rooted sense of history and community: a cherished establishment quietly threading decades of memories through the fabric of Chico’s downtown. It’s a place where familiar faces return again and again, drawn by the comfort of genuine food and the kind-hearted spirit of a family quietly sharing their heritage.

Thus restaurant has an expansive menu and I feel the best Thai food I've ever had. The staff is wonderful.

Hidden gem of a restaurant. Seriously. It’s hidden. We lived/worked in Butte County for 18 years before accidentally discovering Chada, a cozy family owned restaurant in a basement space in downtown Chico below Brooklyn Bridge Bagels. They’ve been in the same location for 25 years. Husband and wife run the kitchen and their daughter is the server. Food is made fresh and served quick. They’re also able to accommodate gluten free requests. Bbq pork and bbq chicken with pineapple fried rice were excellent. We’ll definitely be back to try other dishes.

We had an excellent dinner here! The food was full of authentic flavors and well prepared. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was very cozy and homely. A true gem! we only wish we lived closer by so we could visit more often. Highly recommended!

I’ve been to Thailand couple times and this restaurant’s food is a bit close to authentic. Would recommend this spot to bring friends. Family style dining where dishes are shared.

Cozy place with excellent food. I got the #22 and hit all the right flavor notes, and their medium is perfect, nice bit of heat.

Food was delicious! Ordered homemade curry with pumpkin, it was sweet and spicy! It was the perfect amount of spice and sweetness. Can't wait to go back.

Honest review: Chada has an amazing selection of very very tasty food. They always have fresh seafood and always keep their dishes consistent. Even just their simple white rice is so tasty and fluffy. The servers are always super nice and friendly. I personally really love the atmosphere and decorations, but it can be hot and muggy at times. Otherwise, genuine great food and very much worth the price.

I ordered to go. The hostess suggested a traditional Thai dish based on my favorite vegetables, herbs and spices. She wasn't wrong it was absolutely delicious! Had enough for leftovers which I couldn't wait to enjoy. Service went above & beyond with my order being brought to me outside the restaurant where I made some phone calls while my order was cooked. I'll definitely be returning to enjoy another dish.
